The IRS has announced major changes to the Enrolled Agent Examination process beginning in 2026. Candidates planning to pursue the EA credential should take note of the updated testing structure, schedule, and administration process.

Key highlights include:

🔹 The EA exam will transition to PSI Services as the new testing provider starting March 2026.

🔹 A temporary blackout period will take place from March to June 2026, during which no EA exams will be conducted.

🔹 Registration is scheduled to reopen on May 1, 2026.

🔹 Testing is expected to resume in July 2026 with both:
• In-person testing options
• Remote online proctoring availability

🔹 International remote testing access is expected to begin in September 2026.

Exam Structure:
✔ 3 Parts
✔ 100 MCQs per part
✔ 3.5 hours per part
✔ $317 fee per part

Important Prerequisites:
• Active PTIN required before scheduling
• All three parts must be completed within a rolling 3-year period
